about

The list is pretty impressive: Bottle Rockets, Son Volt, Jay Farrar, Magnolia Summer, Karate Bikini, The Lonesome Pines, Swing Deville, Diesel Island, Cave States, Colonel Ford, Belle Starr and One Fell Swoop to name a few. Members of the Rockhouse Ramblers play in or have performed with some of St Louis' finest rock and roots bands, past and present.

The group began as a side project when Kip Loui and John Horton started messing around with some country standards in Kip's living room in late 1998. Veteran multi-instrumentalist Gary Hunt was enlisted to help fill out the sound, and Dade Farrar soon joined the outfit on bass. Shortly after, Danny Kathriner came in on drums, creating the five piece line-up that would remain unchanged during the six-year run of the RR's. Initially a cover band, the Rockhouse Ramblers soon began including songs written by Hunt, Farrar and Loui that fit comfortably alongside the classic country tunes that filled countless four-hour bar gigs across the St. Louis region.

This anthology is a collection of original material taken from the band's three official CDs. The Rockhouse Ramblers' debut Bar Time (2000) and the group's sophomore release Torch This Town (2002) were released on the Hayden's Ferry label based out of Tempe, Arizona. A third CD, Lies & Damn Lies, was recorded in 2004 and released posthumously and independently by the group in 2010. The tracks on this anthology represent the best of the Rockhouse Ramblers' recorded output.
